Reflections on Mortality
Personal Artist Statement
This body of work is steeped in sobering themes of mortality, death, and beyond. In a world of constant advances and seemingly endless distractions, it can be easy to sweep the consciousness of mortality under the proverbial rug and sleep well at night. I believe the disillusionment of this candy-coated age is why I have chosen to confront the imminent reality of these subjects out of a desire to refine my own existence and purpose. By creating art concerning my reflections on these concepts, I intend to liberate others to consider their own foundational understandings of mortality, death, and beyond, and thereby live authentically and unhindered according to what they discern.
